In 1857, Wilmington was the first city in North Carolina to welcome the state’s first YMCA. Since then, the popular, non-profit organization has built facilities all the way from the coast to the mountains. With a slated fall groundbreaking in Chatham Park, the YMCA will open its tenth Triangle location in just a few years. With a long list of diverse activities for all skill levels, the YMCA has long been a neighborhood favorite and residents of Chatham County are thrilled to have a bird’s eye view on the construction of this new facility.
The 34,000-square-foot space will coincide with the growth of the area, including Lowe’s at Northwood Landing across the street from Mosaic at Chatham Park, serving residents of Chatham Park and beyond. Chatham County’s current YMCA facility has offered programs for children, teens, and adults, including group exercises and a workout facility.
When the new building is complete, it will feature:
- A Wellness Center with state-of-the-art equipment.
- Multiple exercise studios for group classes.
- An outdoor pool that will host swim lessons, aquatic fitness, and recreational swimming.
- Multiple gymnasiums.
- Open outdoor space for sports and programming.
- Multi-purpose spaces available for community partnerships including wellness-based educational opportunities.
The YMCA’s focus on being a positive force for good continues to shine as the nationwide go-to for the improvement of health and well-being. Windjam Properties is thrilled to offer luxury homes in several Chatham County neighborhoods. As a local amenity, residents will have a top-notch facility just minutes away, the perfect spot to invest in health and happiness.
