Confirmed at the beginning of September of 2022, Wolfspeed is coming to Chatham County. Chatham County’s Siler City will be home to the new plant and will create at least 1,800 jobs. In fact, the first phase of the mega site will be large enough to fit the Superdome in New Orleans as well as the Sears Tower in Chicago and still have room leftover. The plant will focus on producing silicon carbide materials which ultimately end up in semiconductor chips.
Wolfspeed is among many companies like Toyota and VinFast choosing the Triangle area to establish new manufacturing facilities. The growth is just beginning, and Windjam is ready as the company has land positions in the nearby area to accommodate the impending growth.
